In 2025, Federation University continued to deliver on its commitment to accessible, high-quality education that supports local communities and industry. The University launched its new strategic plan, Federation 2040: A vision for Australia’s first co-operative university, setting a clear long-term direction focused on industry-connected learning, regional impact and innovation. A major milestone was reached with the completion of the Co-operative Education transformation across all higher education and the majority of TAFE courses, supported by a new Co‑op Quality Framework. This work, alongside more than $11 million invested annually in equity initiatives, contributed to strong student satisfaction outcomes, including top rankings for undergraduate teaching quality and student support.

Federation University employed 1,859 staff (1,382 full-time equivalent) and supported a diverse student community across higher education and TAFE. The University enrolled 13,199 higher education students (8,810 EFTSL) and 7,393 TAFE students (2,370 EFTSL), including 9,145 domestic students (6,192 EFTSL) and 4,054 international students (2,618 EFTSL). Research performance remained steady, with total research income of $9.75 million and 51 Higher Degrees by Research completions. Financially, the University recorded revenue of $327.3 million and expenditure of $359.5 million, reflecting sector-wide cost pressures and one-off costs associated with workforce restructuring.
