Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS)
Revise tricky first-year units at free weekly study sessions run by high-achieving students.
Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) are run for the most challenging first-year units. Strengthen your understanding of tricky concepts by joining these weekly group sessions led by students who’ve excelled in the subject. PASS is open to everyone – whether you’re finding things tough, doing okay, or aiming for top marks – and it's free.
About PASS
Sessions are delivered online via Microsoft Teams (except Physiotherapy, which is on campus) and run for one hour, once or twice a week until SWOT Vac.
A typical session might include:
- going over lectures and readings
- group discussions and problem-solving
- tips for doing assessments and exams
- quizzes, brainstorming and other interactive tasks.
If there are two sessions on the timetable, the content will be the same in both, so you only need to attend one (unless you're keen to do double revision).
PASS leaders are experienced students who have achieved high marks in the unit they're taking. They will:
- share study strategies that worked for them
- help you understand what to learn and how to learn it
- clarify difficult concepts
- answer your questions.
You can go to as many (or as few) PASS sessions as you like, and you can start attending at any point in the semester. You don't need to book – just use the Microsoft Teams link in your Moodle unit shell to join the session at the scheduled time. There’s no cap on numbers – if sessions fill up, we’ll add more. Worried you'll forget to come? Register to receive calendar reminders.
