Our Respect at Federation campaign
This university-wide awareness campaign aims to increase awareness of support services and reporting pathways so that students and staff can access help if they need it.

What is the Respect at Federation campaign?
Respect at Federation is a university-wide awareness campaign that was launched in August 2026. Our aim is to:
- increase awareness of support and reporting pathways
- increase trust in Federation's support services
- build confidence to seek support or make a report
- encourage help-seeking behaviour when support is needed.
The messaging was developed in consultation with our Student Equity and Safer Communities team and tested with student representatives in the Student Equity and Inclusion Network (SEIN) and the Student Senate.
Campaign elements
We'll be displaying posters and screens across our campuses, embedding messaging into digital learning resources, posting a series of news articles and sending emails to students and staff.
Why we're focusing on prevention and response
The Australian Government's National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence (National Code) came into effect on 1 January 2026. All Australian universities must meet the National Code's seven standards. Federation is taking action by developing a Whole-of-Organisation Prevention and Response Plan that builds on existing initiatives and aligns with our commitment to safety, respect, wellbeing and inclusion.
We recognise that creating a respectful and inclusive community requires more than policies and procedures. Our Respect at Federation campaign supports culture and behavioural change by increasing awareness, encouraging conversations and promoting support and reporting pathways.
