Gender-based violence prevention and response plan
All Australian universities are required to have measures in place to prevent and respond to gender-based violence under the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence. Federation University is committed to creating safe, respectful and inclusive environments for students and staff. As part of this commitment, we're developing a plan, an outcomes framework, a policy and a procedure to address gender-based violence.
Why are we doing this?
Everyone has the right to feel safe, respected and included at Federation. These documents, developed in line with the National Code, will help guide our approach to preventing and responding to gender-based violence, including support, reporting and response for students and staff.
They cover a range of settings, including:
- on campus
- online
- during placements and university activities
- in residential settings
- in the wider community.
They also outline how we'll support students and staff affected by gender-based violence, including family violence.
Your feedback is important
Take some time to read the draft documents and consider how they may affect the Federation community. Your feedback will help shape the final versions.
