What to expect on the day

If you’re travelling to Gippsland Campus by public transport:

  • You can use the PTV or VLine journey planner to check train, bus times and any service disruptions.
  • The VLine train from Melbourne to Morwell takes about 2 hours 15 minutes and runs regularly. From Morwell you can connect via the local Latrobe Valley bus to campus.
  • Local bus services (Latrobe Valley Buslines) link Morwell, Traralgon and Churchill, with the bus stop on campus near Northways Road.
  • If you're driving, there’s plenty of free parking available across the campus.

Registration and gowning will open two hours before your ceremony in the Student Lounge and close 30 minutes beforehand. If there are lots of students graduating, it may take some time to organise your academic dress, so it’s best to allow extra time. You may also like to get some professional photographs taken while everything is still fresh, the campus grounds make a great backdrop.

You and your guests will be seated separately. The ceremony will go for about an hour, beginning with speeches by the University council leader and a student graduate. Every graduate will be called up, one and a time, to collect their testamur and academic transcript.

Please let us know know via our online enquiry portal if you have any accessibility requirements.

There will be plenty of time to see your family and friends, mingle with other graduates, have your photo taken and throw your hat in the air. R & J Framing and Plaques will have a stall onsite if you'd like your get your testamur framed. And don't forget to return your academic gown before you leave.
