Diploma of Business and Sports Management Orientation

What to expect at Orientation

Your Orientation runs over three days: Monday 13, Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 July.

Attendance is compulsory for all students. Don’t forget to bring your student ID number and a laptop if you have one (or a notebook and pen). Our Berwick campus is cashless, so plan ahead.

If you can't attend, let us know and we'll make sure you have everything you need to start with confidence.

Monday 13 July

Day 1 is at City Football Academy, Melbourne – ctrl:cyber Campus at 369 Casey Fields Blvd, Cranbourne East, VIC 3977 and will be all about your course. 

You'll get to explore your facilities, find out important course information and meet other new students. 

The day will run from 9.20 am to 3.15 pm with a break for lunch (provided).

Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 July

Days 2 and 3 are at our Berwick Campus and are dedicated to study skills and careers workshops. Tours and sessions on using our learning platform are repeated across the day, so pick and choose what suits you best.

Day 1: Monday 13 July

Day 1 is all about your course and your campus. Start with your official welcome from both Federation and City Football Academy, Melbourne – ctrl:cyber Campus, then explore your facilities, and meet other new students. Save the date so you’re ready to go.

Check in at reception and start meeting your fellow students as you get ready for an exciting day ahead.

Start your Orientation with a warm welcome from the Melbourne City FC and Federation University. Discover what’s planned for the day and pick up handy tips to make the most of your Orientation experience.

Explore the City Football Academy, Melbourne – ctrl:cyber Campus at Casey Fields and learn about the facilities and resources available to you.

Join a fun icebreaker to connect with your classmates, then take a short break to relax and mingle.

Hear from the Melbourne City FC Program Manager and be inspired as you begin your university adventure.

Take a break and enjoy a free lunch. This is the perfect time to mingle with new friends and recharge for the afternoon sessions. Vegetarian, gluten-free and halal options will be available.

Gain insights from the Melbourne City FC Directors as they share their vision and opportunities for students.

Take a quick refresh before diving into the next session.

Find out why safeguarding matters in sports and learn what checks and steps you need to take to be ready for placements from day one.

Day 2: Wednesday 15 July

Time to explore our Berwick campus. There'll be tours running from 1 to 3 pm. Campus tours depart every 15 minutes from the Main Quad, and library tours run every 30 minutes from outside the Library.

You can collect your Student ID card from the library at any point during the day.

If a session is repeated, just choose the time that suits you best. Add the day to your calendar.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are invited to this session hosted by the Aboriginal Education Centre (AEC). Learn about the support services and connect with  students and staff.

Drop in anytime to get help with finalising your enrolment, selecting your units (subjects) and setting up your timetable.

Discover how to navigate your online classroom and meet our PASS Leaders. They're experienced students who run study sessions across the semester for challenging first-year units. They share practical study tips, help you understand what and how to learn, and model strategies for achieving great marks.

Day 3: Thursday 16 July

Next up, you’ll sharpen your study skills and get fully prepared for the start of university. If a session is repeated, just choose the time that suits you best. Add the day to your calendar.

  • Understand the steps involved in the writing process.
  • Learn how to break down an assessment topic or question.
  • Practice brainstorming to generate and organise ideas.
  • Create a plan that gives direction for writing.

Room G121, Building 903

Learn how to access your classes, reading materials, and assessments through the university’s online platform, Moodle. Get ready for Week One and receive help with logging in or navigating the platform if you need it.

Explore on-campus accommodation and learn about the benefits of living at Fed.

FedLiving Office, Building 955

  • Understand the steps involved in the writing process.
