About counselling support
Counselling can help with a wide range of personal and academic concerns. You might be dealing with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, grief or challenges with study. Whether the issue is new or something you've been managing for a while, talking to a counsellor can help you feel more supported and find a way forward.
Counselling gives you space to talk about whatever’s on your mind. You’ll do most of the talking, and the counsellor will listen carefully, help you explore your concerns and support you in working toward your goals.
Depending on your goals, they'll also work with you to develop regulation, relaxation and self-care strategies, and teach techniques to assist in wellbeing, coping, and lifestyle management.
Sessions are confidential and can be held in person, over the phone or online via Microsoft Teams.
Counselling sessions last up to fifty minutes. Sometimes one session is enough, or you can access up to six free sessions per calendar year. If you need more, your counsellor can help refer you to support outside the university.
