Withdraw from study

Thinking about withdrawing from your course? This means your enrolment will be cancelled and you'll be removed from all your units.

Sometimes withdrawing feels like the only option. Before you decide, speak with us about your course progression and make sure it’s the right step for you.

Make your decision before census date

If you decide to withdraw from your course, make sure to apply before your census date. Otherwise, the units you were enrolled in will be included in your student fees and remain on your academic record.

How to withdraw

If withdrawing is the right step for you, here’s how to apply.

Start by speaking with your program coordinator to discuss your options and next steps. To withdraw from your course, you’ll need to complete and return a withdrawal form from your program coordinator. You can also confirm your intention to withdraw in writing, in line with the Enrolment Withdrawal (TAFE) Procedure.

To withdraw from your studies log into my Student Centre and select the 'My Forms' tile. Choose the 'Amend your course status' form then complete and submit your withdrawal.

If you're studying a Federation Online course, please contact us directly to submit your withdrawal request.

Withdrawing means leaving Federation University and having your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) cancelled.

If you're thinking about this option, speak with your course coordinator or support staff first to see if there's an alternative. You can also email the International Student Compliance team at internationalcompliance@federation.edu.au and read the Department of Home Affairs study situation changes information.

If you're sure that withdrawing is the right step, log into my Student Centre and select the 'My Forms' tile. Choose the 'Amend your course status' form then complete and submit your withdrawal. Make sure you attach evidence explaining why you’re unable to continue studying, and submit the form before the census date.

If you haven’t completed six months of study at Federation University and want to transfer to another university or education provider, you’ll need to request a release letter and complete the transfer application form.

Your withdrawal will be reported, your CoE will be cancelled, and the Department of Home Affairs will be notified. This may affect your student visa.
