New student checklist

Starting at a new university in a new country is an exciting step. This checklist will guide you through the steps to get started at Federation and help you feel prepared, supported and ready to begin your studies.

Quick tip: Your first semester is either Early Nursing (Term Code 2616) or Semester 2 (Term Code 2620). Handy to know when checking important dates.

  1. 1. Organise your relocation

We’re here to guide you through each step before and after you arrive.

2. Activate and log in

Activate your account to securely access all Federation University systems with one login. You’ll then be able to log into my Student Centre (mySC) to manage your university administration.

3. Enrol and get your timetable

You must enrol in four units (subjects) per semester. This is separate from your Certificate of Enrolment (CoE). Enrolling in units is the only way to fully secure your place at Federation. After you enrol, you’ll be able to manage your timetable.

4. Get connected

You’ll use a few different online systems during your studies. Make sure you can meet the minimum IT requirements before you start. Check your student email regularly as this is where we’ll send important updates.

5. Complete online modules

Get started on these modules now. They're all available via Moodle and you must complete the first three before submitting your first assessment.

6. Prepare for class

Get ready for your course by organising what you need before classes begin.  You can collect your Student ID card at Orientation. Before collecting your card, you must complete the International Student Essentials Program.

7. Come to Orientation

Orientation is compulsory. It helps you learn what to expect, connect with others and prepare for your studies. And it’s a bit of fun too.
