Activate your account
Activate your account to access all Federation University systems securely with one login.
Activating your account gives you access to all Federation University systems, including My Student Centre, where your uni admin lives. You’ll be able to enrol in units, update your details, view grades, pay fees, and more.
The good news is you only need to do this once, and these steps are designed to keep your details safe and secure. After setup, your Student ID and password will work across all Federation systems, so you don’t have to remember multiple login details.
Make sure you can access the email address or phone number we have on file.
Set your password
Go to Password self-service
Enter your Student ID (it starts with 3xxxxxxx) in the Student ID/Username field, then click 'Next'.
You can find your Student ID on your offer letter or your Student ID card.
Select your preferred method (SMS or email), then click 'Submit'.
If you're using an overseas phone number, select 'Email' as your preferred method.
If you can’t access your email or phone number
If you can't get a security code because you no longer have access to the email or phone number shown, please contact us so we can update your details.
Check your SMS or email for the security code and add it in the 'Security code' field.
Add your new password in the 'New password' and 'Confirm password' fields and click 'Submit'
Password requirements
Enter a strong password that meets the requirements (and one you can remember). Your new password must satisfy the following requirements:
- Minimum password length is 15 characters.
- Password must not contain your username or more than two consecutive characters of your full name.
- Your password must contain at least 3 of the following:
Uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number (0 through 9) or special character (e.g. # and $). - Your new password cannot have been used previously.
Tips for a strong password
Creating a secure password is essential to protect your accounts and personal information. Follow these tips to ensure your new password meets security requirements and is easy to remember but hard to guess.
Use a phrase
Combine random words or a sentence you can remember, then add numbers and symbols. For example, TigerRunsFast!29 (don't use this example as your real password, even if you love tigers).
Don’t repeat characters or patterns
Avoid things like aaaaaa or 123123.
Keep it private
Never share your password with anyone.
You'll see a confirmation page once your password has been successfully reset.
Activate multifactor authentication
Download the app
Using your mobile device, go to aka.ms/mobileauthenticator to get the Authenticator mobile app.
Search for the app
Open the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android). In the search bar, type Microsoft Authenticator.
Tap Install (or Get on iPhone) then wait for the app to download and install.
Once installed, open the app to start setup.

- Enter your Student ID in the username field.
- Enter your password in the password field.
- Click 'Sign In' or 'Log In'.
- If prompted, confirm any security checks (e.g., CAPTCHA).
Follow the prompts to set up MFA through the authenticator app:
- You will be prompted to add a new sign-in method (for first time login), select 'Next' and the setup will present a new QR code on the screen.
- On the 'Install Microsoft Authenticator' screen, click 'Next'.
- On the 'Now pair Authenticator with your account' screen, click 'Pair your account to the app by clicking this link'.
