How do I get a job?
Before you start applying for jobs, it helps to learn more about the types of roles available. One of the best ways to do this is by chatting with people who already work in the industry or organisation you're interested in. These conversations can help you:
- explore areas of work that interest you
- understand what a typical day looks like in a certain job
- learn how to get started in the industry and what skills employers want
- pick up industry terms and find out about job prospects
- grow your network and get introduced to new contacts.

Job hunting can be fun. Use filters to narrow down your search – but stay open to roles you might not have considered before. You could discover something you're great at. Not sure where to start? Here are some of our recommendations:
Most job applications require a resume and cover letter. Some might also ask for key selection criteria answers or a suitability statement. Job interviews can be anxiety-inducing, especially if you haven't been to one before. The key to calming the nerves is preparation. Learn about the role and the company (and the people interviewing you, if possible) and practise answering common questions. These resources might help:
