TAFE support services

Apprenticeship and traineeship support

An apprenticeship or traineeship is the first step toward a rewarding career. We have dedicated support officers available during your training. Call 03 5327 8619 or email ApprenticeTraineeSupport@federation.edu.au.

Apprenticeship support officer

You’ll also hear from an apprenticeship support officer through the Victorian Government’s apprenticeship support program. They provide free, confidential advice to help you navigate workplace and training. Email Apprenticeship.support@education.vic.gov.au.

Apprentice Connect Australia Providers

An Apprentice Connect Australia Provider registers your training contract and supports you throughout your apprenticeship. If you're already an apprentice and don't know who your Apprentice Connect Australia Provider is, call the Skilling Australia hotline on 1800 020 108.

Our Skills and Jobs Centre offers personalised advice about jobs, training and study pathways. We can help with career planning, resumes and finding apprenticeships or traineeships.

We offer a range of scholarships and grants for TAFE students to help with study costs. You can also learn about financial support for apprentices through the Australian Government.

You can also access our cost of living support, including free groceries.

We have a dedicated TAFE study support team that can help with assessments, study skills, time management and more. Email TafeStudySupport@federation.edu.au.

New students will also be invited to complete the TAFE Ready Moodle course, which covers everything from getting connected, using the library, submitting assessments, completing research and finding support.

We have dedicated TAFE student wellbeing officers to support you throughout your education and training.

Order your textbooks

Ordering items through School Locker is quick and easy. Select ‘Subjects’, choose your semester, search by unit code, add items to your cart and complete the checkout process.

Placement

Placement means working in industry. It gives you the chance to apply your knowledge in real situations – great preparation for being in the workforce.

You’ll use the InPlace platform to upload essential documents, submit your placement preferences and find out where you’ve been placed. Log in with your student ID and password.

Find out more about organising your placement via InPlace.

Before your placement can be confirmed, you’ll need to upload various mandatory documents to InPlace (including a Police Check, a Working with Children Check and your immunisation status). Some of these can take 6–12 weeks to organise, so best start early.

Apprentice and Trainee Online Management System (ATOM)

ATOM stands for Apprentice and Trainee Online Management System. If you're an apprentice or trainee, you'll use the platform to:

  • view your progress
  • find your training plan
  • download forms and documents.

As an apprentice or trainee, you'll log into ATOM with your Federation student ID and the password you receive in your TAFE welcome email.

From here you can:

  • view your training plan
  • see your attendance history
  • add or review any workplace training activities you've done
  • find your teacher's contact details of your teacher
  • view any documents that you or your teacher have uploaded.

You'll also be able to access links and forms that are relevant to your course.

Need step-by-step instructions? Download our ATOM user guide (PDF 1.7 MB).

If you get stuck, email atom@federation.edu.au or phone (03) 5327 8001.
