Fund your placement

You might be eligible to receive some form of financial assistance while doing your mandatory placement.

Financial assistance

We know that placement is an amazing opportunity. We also know that it can be financially challenging. That’s why Federation is committed to supporting students who have mandatory placement blocks. Explore the options to see if you’re eligible for funding.

Placement payments

Our Co-op education model is all about providing students with real work opportunities – and real work means real pay. So, while you’re on placement, your employer will pay you minimum industry award wages.

To make life easier for domestic students with mandatory placements, the Australian Government has introduced the Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP). Eligible students can receive $331.65 per week during each placement period.

To apply, you must be enrolled in a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP), studying an eligible degree in nursing, teaching, midwifery or social work, undertaking a full-time placement and be receiving a Commonwealth income support payment or meet the ‘Need to Work’ criteria.

Our Paid Placement Support Guarantee is designed to help international students manage financially while they're on placement. Eligible undergraduates can receive $10,000 and eligible postgraduates can receive $5,000.

To apply, you must have a valid visa for studying in Australia and be enrolled in mandatory placement units in one of our eligible courses.
