How to apply for short courses

Looking to study a higher ed certificate or TAFE short course? It's easy to apply as domestic student, and you can do it all online.

Most of our short courses don’t have specific entry requirements.

The application process for higher education microcredentials, undergraduate certificates and postgraduate certificates is the same: apply directly to Federation. For TAFE short courses, you’ll need to register your interest to start the application process.

How to apply directly to Federation

STEP 1: Have your personal details ready

Make sure you have your personal details (name, address, phone, email, date of birth) and your education history (qualification titles, institutions and dates) ready before you start your application.

STEP 2: Apply online

Follow the seven-step process on our application website. It should only take about 15 minutes. You’ll need to register with your email address (and – sorry – make up a new password). Include the name of the course you’d like to do in the personal statement section.

How you apply will depend on the short course you're interested in. Search for your course and click 'Apply now' if available. Then, complete and submit the PDF or online form for that course.

Some short courses are delivered based on interest. Select the ‘Register your interest’ button on your chosen short course, and we’ll get in touch with the start date and application information.
