School of Medicine
The School of Medicine aims to transform how doctors are trained in Australia, allowing regional students to study at home and complete placements in their local communities.
The School of Medicine, led by Professor Stephen Tobin, was established in partnership with NewMed Australia in 2026. The goal? To train more doctors in and for regional communities – doctors who understand rural and First Nations health contexts – to help address Australia’s critical shortage of GPs.
The School is currently being assessed for accreditation by the Australian Medical Council.

Doctor of Medicine
This postgrad course, currently pending accreditation, will be delivered via small online classes, with students grouped geographically for collaborative events.
Learners will get hands-on experience at local general practice clinics during their first three years of study, then complete hospital-based training in their final year.
