You can book the Caro Convention Centre at our Mt Helen Campus in Ballarat. Spaces suit everything from small meetings of 20 to large presentations for up to 659 guests.

About the Caro Convention Centre

At the heart of the Caro Convention Centre is the 1870 Founders Theatre, a standout venue offering something truly different. While it’s ideal for conferences, presentations and ceremonies, it’s also uniquely suited to performance‑based events, with dedicated on‑stage and backstage areas, a spacious foyer and a purpose‑built box office. Optional extras are available, including box office attendants, ushers and theatrical scenic effects, props or wardrobe – helping your event run smoothly from arrival to final curtain.

The centre also includes modern, flexible spaces for up to 120 guests, suitable for corporate events and celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries and wedding receptions. To help bring everything together, our events team can offer support with packages for event planning, catering, printing and group accommodation.

Our spaces

The Founders Theatre is a well‑equipped auditorium suited to conferences, presentations, musical performances, graduation ceremonies, conventions, film screenings and dance concerts. It has fixed seating for up to 659 guests, with 515 seats on the ground floor and 144 in a balcony above. 

The theatre includes:

  • On‑stage and backstage areas
  • Professional lighting and audio systems
  • A spacious foyer with screens that can live‑stream activity from inside the theatre
  • Front‑of‑house box office area.

The studio theatre is a flexible, open venue with no fixed seating and capacity for up to 170 guests. We’ll work with you to arrange the space in a way that suits your event.

We have three studio rooms available, offering flexible spaces for smaller events and group sessions. Each room can accommodate 50 to 70 people. We’ll work with you to arrange the rooms to suit your event. 

The boardroom seats up to 20 people and features modern audiovisual technology, including wireless presentation and streaming. With block‑out curtains, natural light and an adjoining courtyard, it’s a practical and private space for meetings and planning sessions.

Our location

You’ll find the Caro Convention Centre at our Mt Helen Campus in Building M. Set among native bushland, the campus is 10 kilometres from central Ballarat. The drive will take about 20 minutes, or if you catch the bus, allow half an hour. 

How to book

Federation staff
Submit a booking request through the Service Hub. To help us prepare, please book with a minimum two weeks notice.
External customers
Complete the online form and we’ll be in touch to confirm availability, discuss set‑up and arrange a tour.
