MTTHR1001 Music Theatre Theory 1

"This course provides students with a foundation of theoretical knowledge and skills from which to begin reading and interpreting music. Rhythm and pitch are covered with the goal of improving students¿ understanding of music and performance skills. Students will be expected to show their theoretical understanding through in-class tasks involving performance, analysis and composition. This course revolves around the development of keyboard and sight-singing skills as major learning activities that will enable students to develop independence in musical preparation. Students will be introduced to the analysis of the elements of music as they are used within music theatre repertoire. A disciplined practice regime will be established to support singing development and as a foundation for more advanced courses. "

Commonwealth supported place (CSP)

A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).
