MTSIN1001 Music Theatre Singing 1
"This course is an introduction to the foundation skills of singing in music theatre styles, including body alignment, breath management and structural support for singing. Vocal techniques will be taught in small group tutorials. Music Theatre repertoire, covering a wide range of differing styles and periods, will be taught in rehearsal style classes. Students will explore the importance of: text in song, sound preparation for singing, and the giving and receiving of constructive feedback. Classes will be run in rehearsal format to develop ensemble repertoire introducing students to the industry expectations of ensemble performance. A disciplined practice regime will be established to support singing development and as a foundation for more advanced courses. SPECIAL NOTE: This Course consists of two distinct strands: Technique and Repertoire. Each strand constitutes 50% of the overall mark weighting for the Course, both strands must be passed in order to pass the Course. "
Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) unit fee
A Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) is one that is subsidised by the Australian Government, which means students only pay the student contribution amount of the tuition fee. CSPs are only available to eligible domestic students.
The student contribution amount depends on the unit and how much funding the Government provides. Each unit is classified into a band based on its discipline (which may be different to your overall course discipline).
2025 student contribution amount: $776
2025 grandfathered student contribution amount (for students who commenced before 1 Jan 2021*): $664
* If you are a continuing student (who commenced your course before 1 January 2021) you will continue paying the same amount as you would have, had legislative reforms not been implemented for any units that would otherwise have an increased student contribution amount.
