HISSG1106 World Empires and Their Cultures: From 15th Century to Present
This course traces the history of the concept of Empire from its origins antiquity to the modern world. It will examine case studies of several empires examining how issues of trade, the military, bureaucracy, government and the managing diverse communities and cultures are managed. The course will also look at the legacies of these empires and how the way we conceive of empire has transformed over time. The impact of these legacies in the colonial and post-colonial experience will also be examined.
Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).
