Direct debit payment plans for TAFE students

As a TAFE student, you might be eligible to set up a direct debit payment plan if you need extra time to pay your fees.

We understand that paying fees on time isn’t always easy. To help ease financial stress, eligible TAFE students can set up a direct debit payment plan, which means breaking fees into smaller, more manageable amounts.

Apply for a plan

We've partnered with FACTS Management to offer direct debit payment plans for VET students. This platform offers the freedom and flexibility to:

  • view your direct debit payment instalments
  • update your financial details
  • make additional payments
  • delay a scheduled instalment up to five days (maximum of three delays per year)
  • nominate authorised parties to make payments (e.g. parent/guardian)
  • view communications that have been sent.

FACTS Management charges an initial $25 administrative fee (to be paid within 14 days of application) and a $33 fee for every failed payment.

If you're studying a certificate I–IV or VCE and you have tuition or materials fees, you're eligible for a direct debit payment plan. If you're studying a Diploma or Advanced Diploma, you can apply for a payment plan for materials fees only (not for tuition fees).

You can only set up a payment plan if your fees are more than $200. Fees from previous years can't be included. If you're enrolled in a short course or you have a history of defaulted payment plans, you're not eligible for a payment plan.

Apply via my Student Centre. Log in, select the 'Campus Finances' tile, then select the 'Payment Plan' button. You'll be redirected to the FACTS website to sign up and apply.

You can choose either a 6-month or 10-month payment plan to be paid during 2026. We recommend a 6-month plan if you're likely to finish your course before September.

Your balance will be divided into equal instalments and automatically adjusted if any fees are added or removed throughout the year.

  • Make sure there’s enough money in your nominated account for each direct debit instalment. If a payment fails, extra non-refundable fees may apply.
  • Don’t pay Federation University directly. If you want to make extra payments, do this through your FACTS account.
  • If you withdraw from your course and you’re not eligible for a refund, your payment plan will continue.
  • Emails from FACTS will be sent to your nominated email address. Please read them carefully and contact FACTS if you have any questions.
  • If your fees or enrolment change, Federation may update your minimum instalment amount.
  • Your payment plan can’t be extended, but you can pay it out early. If you do this, email studentfees@federation.edu.au so we can remove it from your account.
  • You won’t be able to get an official transcript or graduate until your fees are fully paid.
  • When you’ve paid your last instalment, email studentfees@federation.edu.au to check if there are any remaining fees not included in your plan.
  • You must apply for a new payment plan every year (if you need one).

Federation may cancel your plan if:

  • you miss a payment
  • your financial account is invalid
  • your enrolment or registration fee hasn’t been paid
  • your bank blocks the direct debit.

If your plan is cancelled:

  • you’ll get an email asking for immediate payment of your outstanding fees
  • a hold will be placed on your student account, stopping access to grades, transcripts, graduation and future enrolments
  • you may not be able to apply for another payment plan.

If you need help using your online FACTS account, contact FACTS on 1300 322 871 (1300 FACTS1).

For questions about the plan or help applying, contact studentfees@federation.edu.au.
