How to report concerning behaviour

If you've witnessed or experienced unacceptable or concerning behaviour, we're here to help. Our staff will listen, talk you through options and offer support.

Do you need urgent assistance?

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, at risk of harm, or requires urgent medical attention, please call emergency services on 000 or Federation campus security on 1800 333 732.

If you've witnessed or experienced concerning behaviour (such as gender-based violence, discrimination or racism), we can help you to take action. And if you don't feel comfortable reporting the incident, you can still access free trauma-informed support. Choose what feels right for you, and remember: you're not alone.

If you feel ready to make an official complaint about concerning behaviour you've witnessed or experienced (on or off campus) or concerns about personal safety, complete our online form.

What happens after you report

After you report an incident, our Equity and Safer Communities team will get in touch to discuss the next steps. We can provide you with options regarding your safety, personal supports, academic adjustments and relevant procedures. We'll be guided by your choices.

If there's a risk to the community, we might need to use the information you provide to keep everyone safe. We'll always keep you informed about how we use your information.

Need support?

If you've been affected by concerning behaviour, you can get help from staff at Federation or through external services. Confidential support is available even if you don't formally report the incident.
