What to enrol in
If you’re a full-time student with no enrolment variations, you can follow a standard course structure. If not, you may need a personalised student plan.
Follow your course structure or student plan
Course structures and student plans list the units you should enrol in each semester and indicate whether they’re majors or minors, compulsory or elective, or have prerequisites or co-requisites.
Course structures are generic plans that suit full-time students with standard enrolments. Student plans are personalised enrolment structures that have been modified to suit part-time study loads, credit transfers or past enrolment variations (e.g. failed units).
If you're a TAFE student, the units you need to enrol in will appear automatically in my Student Centre. Follow these instructions to enrol.
If you're a Graduate Research School student, check your student inbox to find out which units you should enrol in.

If you've received a student plan in your student email, you should use it to enrol.
If you haven't been emailed a student plan, search for your course structure in the Federation University Handbook:
- Open the Handbook
- Choose your discipline
- Select your course
- Select the 'Course structure' tab
- Select the semester you started your course in (not the semester you're enrolling for)
Want more detailed instructions and screenshots? Read about using the Handbook.
If you intend to study part-time, look for a part-time course structure in the Handbook. If there isn't one, request a student plan via the enquiry portal or appointment. You'll also need to request a student plan if you’ve applied for credit.
