Course overview

This course covers the regulations and requirements of Transport Victoria Licensed Vehicle Tester (LVT).
Applicants must be employed by a LVT before applying to become a Licensed Vehicle Tester and hold a valid drivers licence.
Or provide a Transport Victoria preapproval letter.

Individual unit enrolment is available for
Administration
Technical inspection,
Structural Awareness
or
Full LVT includes Administration, Technical and Structural.

LPG Inspection is optional for regular vehicle inspection but required if testing LPG equipped vehicles.

LVT Motorcycle Program is a two-day course designed to cover the regulations and requirements of being a LVT Motorcycle examiner under the current Transport Victoria scheme.
It includes administrative, technical knowledge, testing procedures, completion and understanding of documentation and your role as a Licensed Vehicle Tester within Victoria.

Prior to being accepted into the course, applicants must also complete a pretest (LLN assessment only) The Technical Inspection and Structural Awareness part of this course is only available to qualified motor mechanics.

Entry requirements

Must provide evidence of completion of the Certificate III in Automotive under apprenticeship conditions. The applicant, who is applying for a licence for their own business, must have pre approval from Transport Victoria prior to enrolling in the course. All other applicants must be currently working for a business that is already licenced with Transport Victoria to conduct roadworthies. The applicant will be required to pass two pretests: 1) Language. Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) and 2) a Mechanical Knowledge assessment - light vehicles.
