What to do first?
We emailed you the exam timetable, check it to know:
- when your exam(s) is
- where it’s happening
- how long it runs for
- what materials you’re allowed to bring or use

Mark exam dates on your calendar to help plan your revision and turn up on the right day.
- Build revision into your weekly planner.
- Include time for relaxation, domestic activities and sleep.
- Set revision times for when you are at your most alert.
Use a structured method to make your revision more effective.
- Start by scanning your notes to get an overview, then ask yourself what the topic is really about.
- Read in detail to find answers, making clear, useful notes as you go.
- Test your understanding by recalling key points without looking, then review and reinforce what you've learned.
More tips
On-campus exams are held at the university – check the location in advance so you know where you’re going. Online exams are conducted through Respondus. Ensure you have a computer, reliable internet, and a quiet and comfortable space to take the exam.
If you’re heading to an on-campus exam, get everything you will need the night before and put it in your bag, or somewhere useful. Take more pens and pencils than you’ll need. You can also take in a single, unmarked water bottle to stay hydrated.
Get a quick overview of the question in the first ten minutes. Think and plan for written answer questions and check your work thoroughly.
If you are running short on time, maximise your chance of receiving marks by writing a note of the material you would cover if you had more time.
Write out your Mathematics problems to maximise your chance of getting marks. Demonstrating good process always help, even if the end sum is incorrect.
Ensure any tables or graphs are labelled to indicate what they are demonstrating.
