Parking on campus

All of our campuses have plenty of free, permit and disability parking options.

Student & visitor parking

Staff parking

Free parking

There's free parking available at:

  • Mt Helen Campus (in car parks 5, 6 and 7, and part of car park 1)
  • SMB Campus (White Flat Oval car park, Albert Street and Grant Street)
  • Gippsland Campus (all parking)
  • Wimmera Campus (all parking).

Free short-term parking (15–30 minutes) is available at all campuses. (But be aware that these car parks are monitored for length of stay.)

Motorbikes, scooters and bicycles

If you ride to campus, you can park your bike for free. There are designated bays for motorbikes and scooters, and racks and cages available for bicycles.

Disability parking

All campuses have accessible parking spaces to support students, staff and visitors who have valid Australian Disability Parking (ADP) permits. If you have an ADP permit, you don't need to buy a Federation parking permit.

If you have a valid Double Time (DT) permit, you can park in standard bays for twice the posted time. However, if all accessible bays are full, any ADP holder can park in Zone 4 or short-term spaces for twice the posted time.

Download your campus map below to see the accessible parking bays and mobility access routes.

Parking infringements

If you park in a permit zone without a permit or payment via CellOPark, or you overstay your time limit, you could receive an infringement notice – which means you'll have to pay a fine. You'll find payment instructions on the back of the notice.

If you receive an infringement notice but believe it's incorrect, you can submit an appeal online (with Federation University Australia as the agency name) or in writing. Written submissions should include the infringement details and your name and address, and be sent to Review – Federation University Australia, PO Box 577, Melton VIC 3337. All appeal requests are handled by Bartels, Taylor and Associates on behalf of Federation University.

Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations

Mt Helen has eight AC 22kW chargers equipped with type 2 plugs in Carpark 2 (behind Y building). SMB has a 50kW DC charger (two cables) equipped with CCS2 connectors and two AC 22kW chargers equipped with type 2 plugs in Carpark 5 (between buildings Q and S).
