Who can apply to live on res?
You must be enrolled or intending to enrol in a Federation course, or be a full-time student at another higher education institution, to apply. You'll find the full selection guidelines in the Fedliving residences admissions and allocation criteria (PDF 189 KB). Travelling to another campus for placement? You don't need to apply for student res – you can just go ahead and book short-term accommodation.

Payments
If you don't pay your fees by the due date, you may be sent an overdue notice and charged a late fee. We may also withhold assessment results, testamurs and academic transcripts, cancel your enrolment, and exclude you from course completion or graduation. (See Section 52 of the Federation University Australia Statute 2021 for details.)

Fedliving application FAQs
Applications open every August for the following year. It’s best to apply early so you don’t miss out.
Yes. You can list your preferences in your application and you’ll be offered the highest option that’s available.
If you are applying for a Semester only contract, before being able to consider your application we require one of the following:
- Proof you will be finishing your course at the end of Semester OR
- Proof you are enrolled in the FAST or EAP program OR
- Proof your on Semester exchange
Once we have received either of these we will process your application. If you do not fit in to any of these categories, please apply for an Academic Year contract.
Use an email you check often and won’t lose access to because Fedliving will send you important updates.
We'll send you an offer via email after we receive and process your application.
We accept students from other universities, as long as they’re studying full‑time. Download the Fedliving residences admissions and allocation criteria (PDF 188 KB) if you'd like more info.
Yes – just fill out the expression of interest form.
You must accept your offer via the Fedliving Portal by the deadline listed in the offer email. Use the username and password from your application, and make sure you pay the acceptance fee.
If you've changed your mind about living on res, please email fedliving@federation.edu.au so we can cancel your application.
We'll probably try to contact you, but if we can't get in touch, your offer might be cancelled and you may need to reapply.
No, deferrals aren’t available. If your study plans change, let us know and reapply when you're ready.
Accommodation scholarships
Offer for returning residents
- Eligible applicants will receive a Fedstore voucher valued at $100 RRP.
- The offer is non-transferable and non-refundable.
To be eligible for this offer, you must:
- be a domestic Federation University student
- be returning to on-campus accommodation at Fedliving for the 2027 academic year
- submit an accommodation application on or before Wednesday, 30 September 2026
First-year residents, those applying for a single semester and short-term applicants are not eligible.
Offer acceptance deadline
To qualify for the Fedstore voucher offer, applicants must accept their accommodation offer no later than Wednesday 30 September 2026. Applicants who miss this deadline will forfeit the Fedstore voucher offer.
Voucher disbursement
The Fedstore voucher will be sent via email to the current ‘active’ email address registered in the Fedliving portal of eligible applicants following check-in. Applicants who do not check in to their accommodation by Monday 22 February 2027 will forfeit the Fedstore voucher offer.
General conditions
- This offer is non-transferable, non-refundable, and only available to eligible accommodation applicants.
- Fedliving reserves the right to amend or withdraw this offer at any time without prior notice.
- All accommodation applications are subject to availability and standard eligibility, application and allocation criteria.
- By applying for accommodation, applicants agree to abide by all Fedliving policies and procedures.
