FedCare community services
Find out how we support the Ballarat community through school programs, workshops and partnerships with local organisations.
We deliver a range of workshops and group programs to support wellbeing across Ballarat. These sessions offer practical support and a welcoming space to explore topics such as parenting and managing mental health.
Group programs and workshops
Our school outreach program is a partnership between FedCare and five schools in the western region:
- Phoenix College
- Woodman’s Hill Secondary College
- Bacchus Marsh College
- Mount Rowan Secondary College
- Daylesford Secondary College.
Our provisional psychologists spend one day a week in these schools, working with the school wellbeing teams to provide clinical assessment and short-term psychological intervention for students.
Sons and Daughters of the West is a wellbeing program run by the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation with Federation University and Victoria University. Over ten weekly sessions, men and women take part in group activities that combine wellbeing presentations with gentle exercise. Provisional psychologists help deliver the program, offering psycho‑education and support to participants who may need extra help.
We've partnered with the Lucas Cricket Club to support players and their families throughout the cricket season. Our team runs group sessions on mental health and wellbeing, helping reach people who may not usually seek support or know how to access a psychologist.
Rural Health Connect is a new pilot program, supported by the Victorian Government, that gives people in rural and regional Victoria free access to a provisional psychologist. You don’t need a GP mental health care plan to take part.
This service is for children, adolescents and adults who feel they’re not functioning at their best and would benefit from early support. This might include feeling sad or overwhelmed, finding it hard to concentrate, or experiencing stress, anger, sleep difficulties or grief. If you already have a diagnosed mental illness, please speak with your GP about the most appropriate service for you.
