VAGTR5001 Glaze Technology and Research 1
Glaze Technology and Research 1 is the first in a sequence of two courses in the Graduate Diploma of Ceramics devoted to the development and production of a range of ceramic glaze surfaces and associated treatment. Students will develop deeper knowledge of the technicalities of glaze formulation, basic ceramic chemistry and the variants of kiln firing and management. Weekly consultations with studio supervisors, practical demonstrations, and an experimental approach to learning will culminate in an increased understanding and an ability to identify and rectify glaze and firing faults as well as unsuccessful results. Students will have produced the nucleus of an individual, personal glaze palette at the completion of this course.
