SOCOG1105 Japan: Economy and Society
The course will comprise a general examination of political economy and society in Japan. A focus on processes of social transformation in the postwar period will present challenges to students¿ impressions of Japan as a stable and homogenous society. It will also undertake a critical examination of Japan¿s relationship with the United States and with the Asia-Pacific. The course ends with an exploration of the fundamental challenges that face Japan at the turn of the twenty-first century.
