SOCIN2102 Sociological Theories
Sociological Theories involves developing comprehension of theory as a framework for analysing and explaining notions of 'the social'. This course enables students to encounter and debate how notions of 'the social' are theorised in sociology in different places and in different historical phases. Topics may include social order and bureaucracy, types of inequality and power, religions in modern society, subjectivity and individuation, capitalism, industrialism and post-industrialism, competing theories of the social, network society, risk society and sociological theories in Australia.
Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).
