PSYCB1112 Understanding the Brain and Mind

This unit introduces students to the study of the brain, mind and human experience. Students explore how psychology has developed as a discipline and examine major historical and contemporary perspectives on behaviour and mental processes. With a particular focus on biological and cognitive psychology, the unit considers how brain function, perception, memory, learning and other psychological processes contribute to everyday experience and behaviour. Students also develop foundational skills in interpreting psychological research, evaluating the conclusions drawn from evidence, and using psychological literature to construct and communicate evidence-based arguments
