LITCR2101 Creative Writing: Prose Fiction

This is an intermediate course and may be undertaken by students who intend to develop their creative writing skills in prose fiction and to develop an original manuscript in short story format. The course will draw on diverse examples of the short story genre in order to focus on developing the elements of Setting, Character, Plot, Structure, Point of View, Voice, Metaphor, and Symbolism in an original manuscript. Weekly seminars will require regular reading and writing activity, giving and receiving evaluative feedback clearly, sensitively and effectively, engaging in the practice of editorial skills and developing a short story manuscript for a specific audience.

Commonwealth supported place (CSP)

A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).
