HENAH4000 Human Anatomy and Physiology
This short course is designed for students who have not previously completed an undergraduate or higher Anatomy and Physiology course (to the value of 15cp in the last seven years), and to support graduate entry into the N09 Master of Clinical Nursing (Graduate Entry) program. The course examines human anatomical and physiological processes, and their integration and control with particular focus on the maintenance of normal body function. The course encourages students to demonstrate an application of biological science knowledge. An integrated whole-body approach provides inter-professional learning opportunities and allows scrutiny of structural and physiological changes across the lifespan. This online course is delivered in eight modules, comprising content and assessment on the organisation of the human body from chemical and cellular basics to body systems; the maintenance of homeostasis; the structure and function of the musculoskeletal system; the structure and the major integrative functions of the nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory and reproductive systems; the structure and function of the integumentary and lymphatic systems with emphasis on their roles in immunity; the structure and function of the endocrine, digestive and urinary systems; metabolism; the special senses; growth and development
