HEHON4102 Advanced Research Methodology
This unit provides a comprehensive overview of research design and methodologies, equipping honours students with the essential knowledge and skills to undertake rigorous research and/or creative works and innovation aligned to discipline expectations. It begins by exploring foundational theories of knowledge and research philosophies, helping students understand how different perspectives shape the generation of knowledge and creative outputs. The curriculum is focused on a range of research theories, their practical applications and methodologies. It encourages critical analysis through the lens of contemporary theoretical frameworks relevant to each discipline. Students engage with a diverse array of methodological approaches, including both qualitative and quantitative research methods. Qualitative methods are discussed in depth, with emphasis on data collection, analysis, and the importance of validation in research outcomes. Quantitative techniques are also introduced, ensuring students gain familiarity with statistical tools and interpretation. Research methods aligned to creative outputs are discussed in relation to discipline expectations.
Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
