BUTSM3701 TOURISM PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT
Planning is a fundamental function of Tourism Management. Tourism planners are required to understand various planning approaches and strategies for the development of tourism; and have the necessary skills to assess and evaluate tourism planning proposals; and integrate various parties in the tourism planning and development process. A tourism planner requires broad knowledge of the tourism planning framework; and the skills to analyse and evaluate tourism resources and markets. They require a deep understanding of community approaches to tourism planning; physical approaches to tourism planning; zoning strategies for tourism development; integrated tourism planning; and tourism planning for natural, rural and urban areas; as well as broad project management skills. ¿
Commonwealth supported place (CSP)
A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government and students pay a contribution amount. Each unit is classified into a band, depending on the study area of the unit (this discipline may be different from the study area of your course).

Grandfathered contribution amount - if you are a continuing student, who commenced your course before 1 January 2021, you will continue paying the same amount as you would have, had legislative reforms not been implemented, for any units that would otherwise have an increased student contribution amount.
