ACAPP2003 Applied Creative Arts Performance Practice 3
This intermediate course is designed for students to apply skills in theatre making and devising and to increase the actor¿s ability to adapt to the demands of a range of texts and theatrical styles for diverse audiences and situations. Principles of workshop leadership will be introduced and focus will be given to work that speaks across cultures and communities. A variety of theatrical approaches will be explored, including traditional theatre practices of neutral and character mask, clowning, and commedia dell¿arte. These will be situated alongside more contemporary approaches of physical theatre, performance art, street theatre and improvisation for narrative and devising. Students will consider integrating core processes of creativity, communication, engagement and leadership into the devising, rehearsal and performance of non-naturalistic material. This project will culminate in small studio-based and/or site specific performance. It is expected that students integrate knowledge, skills and values gained in other skills classes into these performances where and as required.
