Commonwealth Prac Payment

If you’re studying nursing, midwifery, teaching or social work, you could be eligible to receive a regular payment when you’re on placement.

Placement is incredibly valuable. It gives you the chance to apply your knowledge. To experience your future career. But it can also be a financial strain. If your degree includes large blocks of compulsory work experience, you might not have the time (or energy) to add paid employment to your schedule.

To make life easier for students with mandatory placements, the Australian Government will be introducing the Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) from 1 July this year. If you’re studying teaching, nursing, midwifery or social work, you might be eligible to receive a regular payment during each of your placement periods.

How will it work?
