Access support during placement

If you need help while you’re on placement, get in touch. There are plenty of options available.

We’re here to help

You might be a long way from campus during your placement, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get help if you need it.

If you're doing a Co-op placement, you can email cooperativeplacement@federation.edu.au if you have any questions or concerns.

If your placement is not Co-op, you’ll be assigned a university contact (clinical coordinator, university mentor, course coordinator or academic supervisor) who can help you at any stage. Find their details under confirmed placement information in InPlace

Support services

You'll still have access to our academic and wellbeing support services while you're on placement. If you can't get to campus, we can help you over the phone or online.
Counselling
If you’re having a tough time during placement, you can make an appointment to speak with one of our counsellors over the phone or via video call. Bookings are free and confidential.
Health services
The nurses at our Gippsland and Mt Helen campuses offer free consultations to all Fed students. Appointments at the Berwick Campus health centre are bulk billed if you have a Health Care card.
Career advice
If you’d like to talk to someone about how placement opportunities can boost your job prospects, book a free 30-minute confidential appointment with one of our careers advisors.
Reasonable adjustments
If you have a disability, medical or mental health condition, you may be able to request  reduced days or hours, or placements that are located closer to home.
Student Advocacy
If you have concerns about your placement experience and need help making a formal complaint, Student Advocacy can give you independent advice about what to do.
