Get your documents certified

Find out how to get your documents certified on or off campus.

You might be asked to provide official documents or statements to support a request or application at Federation. We can help you with two common types: statutory declarations and certified copies.

Statutory declarations

A statutory declaration (stat dec) is a written statement that you declare to be true and accurate. You must fill out the standard statutory declaration template (PDF 84 KB) and sign it in front of an authorised witness. Making a false statement in a stat dec is a serious offence.

Certified copies

A certified copy is a photocopy of an original document that has been signed by an authorised person to confirm it’s a true copy. This is often required when you’re submitting documents like transcripts, ID or qualifications.

On-campus signing

You can get stat decs signed and documents certified at our Mt Helen and Gippsland campuses. To make an appointment, please contact us on (03) 5327 9470 or email student.support@federation.edu.au.

Off-campus signing

Using fake documents

Submitting fake or edited documents, like medical certificates, can have serious consequences – you could be excluded from studying at Federation for up to 10 years.
