How to disclose or report

If you've witnessed or experienced unacceptable or concerning behaviour, we're here to help. Our staff will listen, talk you through options and offer support.

If you've experienced discrimination, violence or threats (such as sexual assault, sexual harassment, racism, family violence and bullying) we can support you to take action.

You can choose to disclose or report.

Disclosing means telling someone. Reporting means telling someone, but with the expectation that they will do something about it. Whether you disclose or report is entirely up to you.

If you feel that you haven't been treated fairly at Federation and would like to express your dissatisfaction, you should make a complaint through Student Advocacy rather than disclose or report the incident.

How to disclose an incident

Tell Equity and Inclusion
You can phone or email our Equity and Inclusion team to make a safe and confidential disclosure, get help accessing supports or request more information or referrals.
Speak to a counsellor
Our Federation counselling service is free and confidential, and sessions can be held in person, via video call on over the phone. It's easy to make a booking online.
Contact a staff member
Many of our general staff have been trained to listen to sensitive disclosures and respond in a trauma-informed way. They can help you make an informed choice.

How to report an incident

Complete and submit our online form if you'd like to report any form of discrimination, violence or threats to personal safety.

What happens after you report

After you report an incident, you'll be given information about your options. You don't have to take action yourself. We can work on your behalf to prevent further concerning behaviour. We'll also make sure you aren't treated badly or unfairly for reporting. And everything you tell us will be kept confidential.

Need support?

If you'd like to talk to someone about your experiences, you can get support at Federation or through external services.
