Researcher development
We support research excellence through building knowledge, skills development and collaboration.
We know our culture of research excellence and our international reputation relies on the strength of our researchers and their skills. That’s why we’re investing in enhancing knowledge, building research capability and expanding networks – to support our researchers as they continue to lead in their fields.
The Federation University Researcher Capability Framework works alongside our Research Strategy (PDF 4.8 KB) to support researcher growth. It defines eight capability domains, each with key knowledge and core competencies, helping researchers engage in development activities tailored to their career stage and aspirations.
Through this framework, researchers are empowered to:
- create impact across society
- embrace multidisciplinary teamwork
- engage in ethical and transformational Indigenous and Reconciliation research
- build partnerships across sectors
- use creativity for knowledge transfer
- explore ethical technology use
The framework encourages tailored professional development plans and reflects our commitment to rural and regional advancement. It offers a structured, values-driven approach to researcher development—supporting individual career growth and institutional excellence.
