Biography
Kylie Kruger commenced as a lecturer in Nursing at Federation University in mid-2023, and is currently teaching the first year clinical unit. Kylie enjoys helping students to learn the fundamentals of nursing, practising skills and using person-centred care to enable their successful progression throughout their bachelor course.
Before joining Federation University, Kylie worked at Barwon Health for over 15 years. In this time she was well known across the Surgical and Critical Care directorate. Kylie worked for the Safety, Quality and Improvement Unit, assisting with preparation for accreditation, risk review, quality improvements and implementation and investigations related to serious adverse patient safety events (SAPSE) under the Statutory Duty of Candor legislation.
The majority of time at Barwon Health saw Kylie working in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). During her time in ICU, Kylie progressed from junior nurse to clinical nurse specialist, associate nurse unit manager and nurse unit manager of the ICU, managing over 150 staff.
Kylie has a strong interest in public health and is an early career researcher. She is excited to begin her PhD, researching menstrual hygiene management for people with disability.
