Biography
Kristy Watson is a midwifery lecturer with a background spanning clinical midwifery practice, professional leadership, policy and advocacy, and national workforce initiatives. Prior to joining Federation University, Kristy served as Education Manager and Midwifery Advisor at the Australian College of Midwives (ACM), where she led education and professional development initiatives supporting the midwifery workforce across Australia.
A direct-entry midwife and ANMAC accreditation assessor, Kristy is passionate about preparing future midwives for practice and strengthening the sustainability of the midwifery workforce. Her areas of interest include midwifery education, simulation-based learning, rural and regional maternity care, midwifery leadership, birth trauma, workforce development, and woman-centred models of care.
Kristy has a strong interest in research exploring graduate readiness for practice and contemporary approaches to midwifery education. Her work is underpinned by a commitment to inclusive, respectful, and evidence-informed maternity care and creating meaningful educational experiences for students.
