Biography

Kristen Graham is a lecturer in Midwifery and Course Coordinator of the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery. She is a midwife and registered nurse with postgraduate qualifications and experience spanning public health, professional education and community and child health. Kristen has worked in midwifery, nursing, education and research roles in Australia and internationally, including England, Thailand, Timor‑Leste and Sierra Leone. 

Kristen's research focuses on midwifery education and midwifery practice in resource‑limited settings, with particular emphasis on workforce capacity building and rural and remote practice. She is passionate about supporting students and clinicians to develop research capability and evidence‑based practice skills. 

Kristen’s PhD research at the Australian National University focuses on strengthening the birth preparedness and complication readiness capacity of primary care midwives working in rural and remote, resource‑limited settings, with the aim of informing policy, research, education and practice.  

Kristen’s current research project working with Australian and international partners aims to identify Papua New Guinea’s midwifery research priorities, barriers and enablers.
