Biography

At Federation University, Kelly works primarily in our Federation Access Studies (FAST) course and teacher education. She began teaching English (EAL) in China in 1998 during her nine years of living there. Moving into tertiary teaching in Australia in 2010, she worked at Monash University English Language Centre before joining Federation University in 2019.  

In her work with our EAP and FAST teams, alongside her previous role at Monash University, she has supported hundreds of students to successfully commence university in Australia. She has a passion for innovative pedagogy and assessment to support EAL, Enabling and diverse students’ learning in effective ways. 

Kelly’s research focuses on the Scholarship of Learning and Teaching, including interactive oral assessment in higher education, Generative Artificial Intelligence in pedagogy and practice, critical thinking in higher education and Enabling education pedagogy and practice, particularly for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) students.
