Biography
Professor Britt Klein held the Robert HT Smith Chair in Mental & Digital Health at Federation University from 2013 to 2025 before transitioning to an Honorary Professor role. She co-founded and directed two distinct initiatives: the Centre for Biopsychosocial and eHealth Research & Innovation, and the Digital Health and Models of Care stream within the Health Innovation and Transformation Centre.
An AHPRA-registered clinical psychologist, Britt has published more than 130 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. Across her career, she has been awarded or co-awarded more than $43 million in competitive, government, philanthropic and industry funding, collaborating with industry, consumers and stakeholders to co-design more than 50 digital health platforms and intervention programs.
Recent platforms include HealthZone, an automated digital intervention system (also internationalised in traditional Chinese), BPSD Assist, a dementia care decision-support tool, and Workplace Wellbeing Assist for aged care staff. Britt also co-founded Mental Health Online and the MindSpot Clinic, longstanding national digital mental health services funded by the Federal Department of Health. Additional youth-focused programs include Momentum Hub, Out & Online and Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained.
Britt's current projects include an intervention for older adults entering residential aged care, a chronic conditions model of care for rural Australians, evaluation of eHeadspace clinical services, and the ARC Optimal Ageing ITTC. Her pioneering work helped establish national digital mental health initiatives that continue to underpin major federal investment today.
