Biography
Dr Yutang Wang is an internationally recognised expert in type 2 diabetes, particularly for his contributions to understanding the role of triglycerides in type 2 diabetes and the clinical significance of non-fasting glucose measurements. He also has extensive expertise in cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis, hypertension, and abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Yutang has been invited to present at major international conferences organized by the International Diabetes Federation and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, and has chaired sessions at these conferences.
Yutang is Chief Investigator A on an NHMRC-funded project (Grant ID: 1062671) examining the role of renal sympathetic nerves in hypertension and atherosclerosis. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, including publications in leading journals such as Nature, Nature Medicine, and Cardiovascular Research. He has more than 3,600 Google Scholar citations and an H-index of 33. He is listed among Stanford University’s 'World’s Top 2% Scientists' (2023–2025).
Yutang serves as an editor for Scientific Reports and guest editor for several journals, including the International Journal of Molecular Sciences and Frontiers in Physiology. Dr Wang has supervised four PhD, one master’s, and eight Honours students to completion, and currently supervises four PhD and one Honours candidates.
