Biography

Dr. Maya Antoun is a senior lecturer in the Institute of Education, Arts and Community at Federation University. She completed her Masters and PhD at Monash University. Prior to joining Federation, Dr. Antoun was an Associate Professor at the University of Balamand.  

Her teaching and research interests are in the field of gifted/inclusive education, teacher education, and professional development. She has published in reputable Scopus indexed journals. Maya is a Lebanese Delegate on the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children and has played a key role in shaping Lebanon’s gifted education policy for 2023-2024. She serves as a committee member of the Victorian Association for Gifted and Talented Children (VAGTC).

Maya is part of the Social Justice, Inclusion and Diversity in Education (SJIDE) research group, which is focussed on equity, diversity, inclusion, opportunity, regionality and wellbeing in formal and non-formal educational settings.
