Request an ISBN, ISSN or DOI
Understand how the library can help you with unique identifiers for your research publications.
If you’re a Federation University author, we can issue you an International Standard Book Number (ISBN), International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) or Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for your publications.
Request an ISBN or ISSN
By law you're required deposit a copy of all Federation University publications (print or electronic) with the National Library of Australia and the State Library of Victoria. You'll need an ISBN or ISSN to do this.
Send us an email with the details about your publication, including the title, date, author and format (if it’s a print or e-version).
Email us the title, format (if it’s print or online), stable URL, publication frequency, numbering details and date of first issue of your journal, annual report or newsletter.
Request a DOI
You can request a DOI for works stored in Federation ResearchOnline. You'll already have one if your work is on Federation.figshare.
To apply, send us the title, creators, publisher and publication year.
Need help?
The DOI business rules outline the procedures for assigning, managing, and maintaining Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for research outputs at Federation University. Contact us at cataloguing@federation.edu.au and we’ll guide you through the process.
