Meet Finn: the new way to get quick answers
Finn is our new AI assistant, designed to help you find answers and work out your next step on the Federation website. Whether you’re asking “How do I…?” or “Where do I go for…?”, Finn can point you in the right direction - fast. And because Finn’s a robot that doesn’t need sleep, you can chat any time, day or night. Hot tip: ask Finn to tell you a joke.
What Finn can help with
Finn is especially useful for:
- finding services, forms, and key information
- working out where to go next
- quickly linking you to the most relevant page
- guiding you to the right support option if you need a human.
Finn answers questions using information that’s already available on the Federation website. It doesn’t access student records or connect to Moodle, AskFed, or the ITS Service Hub. This means Finn is best for general information, not personalised advice. If your question is more complex or personal, Finn can connect you to a real life person or guide you to the Enquiry and Application portal where you can submit an enquiry.
Finn also can’t write your essay or answer course‑specific questions. What it can do is help you quickly find the right support, including:
- academic skills resources
- writing and referencing support
- study support pages and tools like FedCite.
It’s all about getting you to the right resource faster, without the guesswork.
Where you’ll find Finn
You’ll see Finn in the bottom‑right corner across most federation.edu.au pages and the Enquiry and Application portal.
Help us make Finn better
Finn is new, and your feedback plays an important role in improving it. When you use Finn, rate the answer with a thumbs up or thumbs down to let us know what’s working well and where things could be better.
If you’d like to provide extra feedback, send us feedback here (you'll also find this form in the footer across federation.edu.au). If something doesn’t look right, you can check the source under 'Read more' or ask to speak to a person for clarification.
